Wizard Philadelphia was a great hit! Philly is a great town and I had a blast at the con. I'm very happy to be back on the con trail since my last one was Baltimore in the fall.
Cosplayers galore, exhibitors, and many talented artists were on display.
At the table next to me was the one and only Bob McCleod. The Philadelphia Convention Center is a spacious venue for the event, however unloading was a bit confusing. There was what seemed a five mile hike from where I illegally parked my car temporarily to unload and the convention entrance in the building. Parking was conveniently found up Arch Street in the parking garage. Being an artist at the show I received 50% of my parking which helped a lot. City parking anywhere can be trying.
My setup this time was a major improvement from Baltimore. I'm always looking to improve my merchandising and I'm already making plans for the New York Experience at the end of this month. I was pleased with my photo back drop to display my prints, however instead of two-sided tape, I'll probably use magnets next time to attach my prints to the back drop. I was very pleased with the prints I ordered from Vistaprint. They were of good quality and they didn't cost me $1000 and a kidney.
The turn out at the show was at it's height on Saturday and Sunday which is to be expected. To generate more foot traffic to my table I'm thinking about organizing a drawing/painting demo at my table. I'll have to see about the details of making that happen but the idea is definitely on the table. Stickers and other freebies may also be on the way!
